Bad deck boards replaced and the new ones blended in, so the finished deck reads as one color. We stain decks, fences and pergolas in Lombard.
Before stain goes on, every deck gets a close look for loose boards, popped screws and soft spots. Bad boards come out and new ones go in, and any fasteners that have backed out get set again. Then we clean and brighten the whole surface and strip or sand off old stain that has failed. Once the wood is dry, the stain is applied in the opacity you chose.
We cover Lombard off I-355 and Roosevelt Road, and up through Main Street and St. Charles Road near Lilacia Park and the Metra station. The hardest part of staining a repaired deck is the new boards, because fresh lumber is lighter and takes stain differently than wood that has been outside a while. We prep new and old boards so they absorb stain as close to the same as possible, and if the difference will still show under a see-through stain, we tell you before we start. A semi-transparent or solid stain hides the patchwork better, and we explain that trade plainly.

Every board walked and tested for soft spots, cracks and loose fasteners.
Rotted or split boards replaced with new lumber cut to fit.
Screws and nails that have backed out set again so they do not catch a foot.
Fresh boards prepped so they take stain as close to the old wood as we can get.
Gray wood cleaned and brightened, and failed stain stripped or sanded off.
Steps, rails and balusters stained along with the deck floor.
Our estimate visit includes walking every board, and the written scope lists how many get replaced, the prep and the stain. If more boards turn out soft once cleaning starts, we show you and price them in writing before we swap them. We book stain days in dry weather and tell you when the deck can take furniture again. The job ends with a walkthrough together.
