The right prep for the siding you actually have, whether it is wood, aluminum, vinyl or fiber cement. We paint Lombard homes inside and out, rotted trim replaced first.
Paint fails when it goes on over the wrong prep, so we match the prep to the material in front of us. Drywall and plaster get patched and sanded, raw wood gets primer, glossy cabinet finishes get degreased and a bonding coat, and every gap at the trim is caulked. Outdoors, siding is washed or scraped depending on what it is, rotted boards come out, and doors, porches and railings are part of the job. Floors, furniture, glass and hardware stay covered or masked the entire time.
We work in Lombard every week, in by I-355, Roosevelt Road and St. Charles Road, around Main Street, Lilacia Park and the Metra station. Houses in the area use wood, aluminum, vinyl and fiber cement siding, and each one paints differently. Aluminum gets washed to remove the chalky residue and primed where bare. Vinyl can be painted, but only in colors made for vinyl, because a dark color can make it warp in the sun. Wood needs scraping and bare-wood primer, while fiber cement needs clean, sealed edges.

Washed to remove chalk, bare spots primed, then painted in an exterior finish that bonds to metal.
Cleaned and painted only in vinyl-safe colors so the panels do not warp in the sun.
Scraped, sanded and primed bare, with rotted boards replaced and seams caulked.
Cleaned, cut edges sealed, and caulk joints redone before the finish coats.
Patched, sanded and primed, then painted with floors and furniture covered.
Entry doors, garage doors and porch railings prepped and painted in exterior enamel.
Our first visit sorts out what each surface is made of, since that decides the prep. The free estimate then puts every room or surface in writing along with its prep, the products and the number of coats. Once you sign off on scope and colors, we set dates, holding exterior days for dry weather above 50 degrees between spring and fall. Damage that shows up under scraped paint gets shown to you and priced in writing before we continue, and the job closes with a walkthrough and touch-ups.
