Solid Joliet cabinets painted in a finish that bonds to the old surface and holds up to hands, steam and cleaning, without ripping out boxes that still work.
Paint on cabinets only lasts as long as the bond underneath it, so most of our time goes into preparation. Doors and drawer fronts come off and get labeled, and every hinge and pull goes into a marked bag. We degrease, scuff-sand, fill and prime with a bonding primer before the cabinet-grade enamel goes on in sprayed coats. Boxes and face frames are painted right where they hang, with the rest of the kitchen covered.
Joliet is on our regular route, from the I-80 and I-55 corridors to Larkin Avenue and Jefferson Street on both sides of the Des Plaines River. If your cabinets have been painted before, we test the old coat first, since latex over an oil-based layer peels unless it is sanded and bonded properly. Where an older Joliet house has solid wood cabinets that have outlasted a few countertops, they tend to be strong candidates for refinishing. If someone brushed them before and left drips or heavy edges, we sand those down so they do not telegraph through the new finish.

On cabinets painted before, we check whether the existing coat is oil or latex so the primer we pick will actually stick.
Runs, ridges and heavy edges from an earlier paint job are sanded flat so they do not show through the new color.
Doors and drawer fronts are removed and marked, and the hinges and screws go into bags labeled by cabinet.
Every surface gets cleaned of grease and lightly sanded so the primer has something to grab.
The finish coat is an enamel made for cabinets, sprayed on so it dries hard and smooth.
Face frames, end panels and toe kicks are painted where they sit, with counters and floors covered.
You get a free estimate in writing after we look at the cabinets in person, and it names every piece we are painting. When a door comes off and shows a problem nobody could see, like a cracked rail or a water-stained shelf, we write up the repair and you approve it before we do it. We give you the schedule, including the days the kitchen will be partly unusable, before work starts. The job ends with a walkthrough where we check every door and drawer with you.
Send a few photos or call, and we will come out to Joliet, look at the cabinets and write up exactly what we would do.
