Peeling stain taken off the right way, so the new coat bonds to the wood instead of sitting on old flakes. We strip, repair and stain decks and fences in Palos Heights.
When a stained deck starts peeling, another coat on top will peel with it. We strip or sand the failed finish until the wood is sound, clean and brighten it, and replace boards that have gone soft. Then the new stain goes on dry wood in the opacity you choose. The same steps apply to fences, pergolas and wood trim.
Palos Heights is on our regular route, reached on Route 83 and Harlem Avenue or across 127th Street and Ridgeland Avenue. If your deck was coated with a solid stain or a deck paint and it is lifting in sheets, the choice that follows matters. Getting back to a see-through finish means stripping it all the way to bare wood, which takes more labor. Removing what is loose and going over it with a fresh solid coat is the other route, and we lay out both in writing so you can decide.

We check how well the old finish is holding so the estimate matches the prep the deck actually needs.
Failed solid stain or deck paint stripped and rinsed off when you want a see-through finish again.
Where we are recoating solid, loose material is scraped and sanded off before new stain.
Stripper residue and gray wood washed away and the color evened out with a brightener.
Soft or split boards and stair treads replaced with new lumber.
When both options make sense, the estimate shows each one so you can compare.
We look at the deck or fence, test the old finish, and write up the scope with the option or options that fit. You see the prep, the repairs and the stain spelled out before you agree to anything. If stripping exposes damage we could not see, we show you and get a written OK on the price first. Work is booked on dry days, and we walk the finished deck with you.
