Give a weathered wood front door in Bloomingdale its color back, along with the deck, fence or trim around it. We sand, stain and topcoat so the grain shows and the finish holds up.
Front doors are part of our staining work, along with decks, fences, pergolas, siding, trim and interior woodwork. A stained front door takes a beating from sun and weather, and when the finish goes, the wood grays and the color blotches. We take the door down to sound wood, sand it smooth, stain it and finish it with a clear topcoat made for exterior doors. Decks and fences can get their own cleaning, repairs and stain on the same visit.
We cover Bloomingdale, and our crew comes in on Lake Street, Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale Road and Gary Avenue. If your entry door faces south or west, it takes the hardest sun, and the topcoat is usually the first thing to go. Catching it while the finish is cloudy or cracking means a sand and recoat. Waiting until the wood itself turns gray means more sanding and a full restain, and doors with glass get the glass and hardware masked or removed either way.

The door is sanded to clean wood, stained in the color you choose and protected with an exterior clear topcoat.
Handles, locks, hinges and glass get removed or masked so stain and clear coat land only on the wood.
A light sand between topcoats keeps the finish smooth to the touch instead of rough or dusty.
Inside, we stain doors, stair rails and trim, with floors and walls covered and dust kept in check.
If the deck or fence needs work, we clean, brighten, repair and stain it on the same estimate.
A test patch goes on the actual wood so you see the color before we commit to the whole door.
We look at the door, deck or trim with you and write an estimate that names the sanding, the stain, the topcoat and the number of coats. If the door turns out to have a split panel or soft wood at the bottom rail, we show you, price the repair in writing and do it only after you say yes. Exterior doors need dry, mild days, so we schedule around the forecast and the days we gave you. Once the finish has cured, we go over it with you before we call it done.
