Trim & Door Painting in Frankfort

The front door, sidelights and entry trim on your Frankfort home painted with crisp lines at the glass and a finish made for the weather.

Entry door, trim and interior door painting in Frankfort

We paint the doors and woodwork in a house, inside and out: entry doors, interior doors, casing, base, crown, window trim and stair rails. Every piece is sanded, filled and caulked first, and any old oil-based finish gets a bonding primer before the enamel. Inside, doors come down and get painted flat when that gives the smoother result. Outside, the door stays on its hinges.

We work in Frankfort every week, getting there on Route 30, Route 45, LaGrange Road and I-80. The front door is the first thing anyone sees, and if yours has sidelights or a transom, most of the time goes into cutting paint against the glass and the narrow bars between panes. We scrape old paint off the glass edges, re-caulk where the seal at the glass has opened up, and keep paint off the weatherstripping so the door still closes tight. Exterior entry work happens on dry days above 50 degrees, so we plan it around the forecast.

Trim & Door Painting by ONIT Solutions

What we paint at a Frankfort entry and inside

Sidelights and transoms

Narrow frames around the glass are cut in by hand, and old paint is scraped off the panes.

Glass edges sealed

Open seams between the glass and the frame are caulked before paint so water stays out.

Brick mold and entry trim

The trim around the entry is scraped, primed where bare and painted with the door.

Weatherstrip left working

Seals and the door sweep are masked or pulled so the door still closes tight.

Storm door handled

A storm door is taken off or held open so the entry door behind it gets full coverage.

Interior doors and trim

Inside doors and casing are prepped, painted flat where it helps and rehung.

How a Frankfort entry and trim job runs

We look at the entry door, the glass, the trim and the inside doors with you, then leave a free written estimate. It lists each surface, the prep and primer, the color and the coats, and it marks which work depends on the weather. Anything added once we start gets priced in writing for your approval before it is done. We book around the days we said, and we end with a walkthrough where you check the front door from the porch and the hall.

FAQ

Trim & Door Painting in Frankfort: questions

Can you paint a front door with sidelights without getting paint on the glass?
Yes. We cut the paint in by hand along the glass and scrape off any that lands there once it dries. Old paint already on the glass comes off during prep.
Do I need a permit in Frankfort to paint my front door?
Painting a door and its trim does not normally need a permit from the Village of Frankfort. Replacing an entry door or its frame is a different job, and we check with the village before doing that.
How long does a front door take?
The door, sidelights and trim usually take more than one visit, since each coat has to dry before the next and the work only happens on dry days above 50 degrees. Your estimate gives you the day count.
Do you serve towns near Frankfort?
We do. We also paint trim and doors in Mokena, New Lenox and Orland Park.
How do I get a price on my entry door?
Call or text (815) 585-1750 with a photo of the door and sidelights. We come out to look and give you a written estimate.
