A fence that looks finished from both sides, with the gray wood cleaned off and stain worked into every picket. Our crew stains decks, fences and wood trim in La Grange Park.
Staining is mostly prep, and we treat it that way. The wood gets cleaned and brightened to lift the gray layer, and any old coating that is peeling gets stripped or sanded back. Loose pickets and rotted boards are replaced before a drop of stain goes on. Then we apply the stain you picked, worked into the grain and the end cuts, and keep it off the house, the patio and the plants.
We cover La Grange Park in Cook County, coming in on I-294 and 31st Street or up La Grange Road from Ogden Avenue. On a lot line fence, the face toward your neighbor weathers just like yours, and leaving it bare means half the fence keeps aging. Before we start, we ask whether you want both faces done and, if so, help you sort out access with the neighbor. Stain on both faces lets the boards take on and give off moisture more evenly, which helps keep them from cupping.

A wood cleaner lifts the gray, weathered layer, and a brightener evens the color so the stain goes on consistent.
Peeling stain gets stripped or sanded off. New stain laid over a failing coat peels right along with it.
Split pickets, loose rails and rotted deck boards come out and new wood goes in before any staining.
When the neighbor agrees, we stain the side facing their yard too, so the whole fence ages at the same rate.
Cut ends and post tops soak up water fastest, so they get a full coat worked into the grain.
Siding, the patio and planting beds near the fence get covered so stain only lands on the wood.
Your estimate comes after we see the fence or deck in person, and it lists the prep, the stain and the price on paper. Rot that only shows up once the wood is washed gets pointed out to you, with a written price you approve before any board is swapped. We book stain days after a stretch of dry weather and let you know when the deck is usable again. Our last step is a walk along the fence with you to touch up anything you spot.
