Stair railings, interior doors and trim stained to match the wood you already have. In Glen Ellyn we also clean, repair and stain decks and fences outside.
Inside the house, staining means stair railings, newel posts, interior doors and trim. We sand the old finish, stain to the color you want, sand lightly between coats and finish with a clear topcoat where hands and feet will wear it. Floors and furniture get covered and dust is kept to the room we are working in. Outside, decks and fences get the usual sequence: clean, brighten, repair, then stain.
Glen Ellyn is on our regular route, off Roosevelt Road and Route 53 and down toward Main Street, Lake Ellyn and the Metra station. If your house still has its original stained oak or other hardwood trim, a remodel can leave new trim that does not match the old. Matching it is part trade and part patience: we test stain on scrap of the same species and show you samples beside the old wood before we touch the new trim. Different species take stain differently, so we tell you plainly when an exact match is not possible and how close we can get.

Handrails, balusters and newel posts sanded, stained and topcoated.
Doors taken down where that gives a better finish, stained, and rehung once dry.
New trim stained to match the old, with samples shown before we start.
A light sanding between coats so the finish feels smooth.
A clear finish over stained wood that gets handled or bumped.
Outside wood cleaned, brightened, repaired and stained on the same estimate if you want it.
We see the wood in person and, for matching work, take note of the species and the existing color. The written estimate lists each piece, the prep, the stain and the topcoat, and we show you test samples before staining the real thing. If we find damaged trim or a split rail, we price the repair in writing and wait for your OK. Indoor work is booked on the days we said, outdoor work on dry days, and we walk it all with you at the end.
