Old paint taken down to a sound edge so the new coat lies flat and stays put. We paint Glen Ellyn exteriors with the scraping and sanding done right.
When paint peels, the layers underneath have let go, and the fix is to take the loose paint off, not to paint over it. We wash the house, scrape every area that lifts, and sand the edges so the old paint line does not ridge through the new coat. Bare wood gets a primer that bonds to it, rotted boards get replaced, and open joints get new caulk. Only then do the finish coats go on siding, trim, soffit, fascia and doors.
Glen Ellyn is on our regular route, in by Roosevelt Road and Route 53, with Main Street running up past the Metra station and Lake Ellyn. If your house has wood clapboard with many coats of paint built up over the years, those layers can crack and peel together, and the scraping takes longer than the painting. We price that prep honestly rather than skimming it. Where the old paint is failing down to bare wood across a whole wall, we tell you that the wall needs more than spot prep and show you why.

Every lifting or cracked area scraped back to paint that is still stuck tight.
Scrape lines sanded down so the outline of old peeling does not show under the new coat.
Exposed wood primed before any color, so the finish coat has a sound base.
Soft clapboards, sills and trim pieces replaced with new wood primed on every side.
Fresh caulk at window and door trim, corner boards and every other open seam.
Drop cloths under every wall being scraped, with chips gathered and hauled off at the end of the day.
The estimate is built around how much prep each wall needs, because on a peeling house that is where the hours go. You get it in writing with every surface, the prep, the product and the coats listed. If scraping uncovers rot that was hidden under the paint, we show you the board and price the fix in writing, and nothing changes until you approve it. We schedule dry days above 50 degrees between spring and fall, then walk the finished house with you.
Peeling paint gets worse every season it waits. Call or text (815) 585-1750 for a free estimate with the prep written in, wall by wall.
