Stain only lasts when it goes into dry wood, so we check the boards before we open a can. Channahon decks, fences and porches get cleaned, repaired and stained on that rule.
Channahon is on our regular route for deck, fence and wood staining. The work covers decks, fences, pergolas, wood siding and trim, plus front doors and stained wood inside. We clean and brighten the wood, take off any coating that has failed, swap out boards that are loose or soft, and only then stain. You choose transparent, semi-transparent or solid, and we explain the trade: more pigment gives more protection and shows less grain.
Channahon is off I-55 and I-80 for us, with Route 6 running through and the Des Plaines and DuPage rivers meeting near Channahon State Park and the I&M Canal. If your yard sits low or backs toward the water, the wood can stay damp longer after a rain or a heavy dew. That matters, because stain brushed onto wet boards cannot soak in and will peel. We take a moisture reading on the boards after washing and wait for them to dry out before the first coat goes on.

We check the boards with a moisture meter after cleaning and hold off staining until the wood reads dry.
A wood cleaner lifts dirt, mildew and gray surface fibers, and a brightener follows so the wood takes stain evenly.
Old stain that is peeling or worn through in spots comes off, so the new coat is not trapped on top of a loose layer.
Soft, cracked or loose boards get replaced with new lumber and fastened down before any stain goes on.
We show you transparent, semi-transparent and solid options and explain how much grain and how much protection each one gives.
Stain goes on in even coats with no lap marks or drips on the rails, and the yard is cleaned up when we leave.
We come out for a free estimate and walk the deck or fence with you board by board. The written scope lists what gets cleaned, stripped, replaced and stained, along with the stain type and coats. Anything we find later, like rot under a stair tread, gets priced in writing and waits for your okay. Once the wood is dry, we work the days we said and walk the finished job with you.
