Cracked plaster and tired walls skimmed smooth enough for a flat paint. Roselle homeowners get drywall, plaster repair and framing done with the dust kept behind plastic.
Not every wall needs to come down to look new. Where plaster is cracked or covered in old patches, we secure the loose areas, tape the cracks and skim coat the surface until it is flat and ready for paint. Where a wall is past saving, we take it down to the studs and hang drywall in its place. New partitions, closets and openings get framed, boarded and finished to the same standard.
We cover Roselle, coming in on Lake Street, Roselle Road and Irving Park Road, with the Metra station and the blocks around it in the middle of town. Roselle sits across DuPage and Cook counties, but permits come from the village on both sides of the line, so a permit question goes to one office. Walls here vary from house to house, so we look at what is actually on yours before suggesting skim coat or new board. The right answer can change from one house to the next on the same block.

Thin coats of compound go over the whole wall, sanded between coats, until the surface is flat under raking light.
Cracks get opened, taped with mesh or paper and coated, so they do not telegraph back through the paint.
Plaster pulling away from the lath gets screwed back with plaster washers before any finishing starts.
Walls beyond repair come down to the studs, and new board goes up taped and finished to match the room.
New walls are framed, boarded and finished, with blocking set for shelves, cabinets or a TV.
We sand with a vacuum attached where the job allows, then clean sills, floors and trim before paint.
We look at the walls in person and write up whether skim coat or new board makes more sense, with a price for each so you can choose. The estimate also covers how we protect the floors and seal off the room. If we find something behind the plaster, like a soft stud or wiring that should not stay, we stop, price it in writing and get your approval. The job ends with a walkthrough together, and we fix anything you see before we pack up.
