Cracked plaster and damaged ceilings brought back to a flat, paintable surface. We cover Joliet for drywall, plaster repair and framing.
Not every wall needs to come down. When plaster is cracked or crumbling in spots but still bonded to the lath, we cut out the loose areas, fill them, and skim coat the surface so it paints flat. When it has let go across large areas, we remove it and hang new drywall, then tape and finish it to the same plane as the walls around it. We also frame new walls and closets, repair ceilings after leaks and add blocking for anything you plan to hang.
We cover Joliet from I-80 and I-55, and Jefferson Street, Larkin Avenue, Route 30 and Route 53 get us across town. Joliet has a wide mix of houses, and plenty of them still have plaster walls, especially in the neighborhoods closer to downtown and the Des Plaines River. Plaster and drywall are different thicknesses, so where the two meet we shim the new board out to keep the wall flat instead of leaving a step. That one detail decides whether a repair disappears under paint or shows every time the light hits it.

Cracked or patched plaster walls get loose material cut out, then a full skim coat that leaves a flat surface for paint.
Where new board meets old plaster, we shim and feather the joint so the wall reads as one surface.
Once the leak is fixed and dry, we cut out stained or sagging ceiling sections, replace them and match the texture.
We frame partitions and closets with headers at the openings, then hang and finish the board.
Studs or joists damaged by water or impact get sistered or replaced before the wall is closed back up.
We add solid blocking for cabinets, grab bars and TV mounts so they anchor into wood, not plaster.
First we look at the walls and tell you which ones can be saved with a skim coat and which need new board. That goes into a written scope with a price for each room. Old walls sometimes hide damaged lath or framing, and if we find it, we price the fix in writing and wait for your yes. Each day ends with the work area cleaned, and the last day ends with a walkthrough so you can check the finish.
