A new opening between rooms, built with the right header and finished so it looks original. Addison homeowners get the scope and the permit question answered in writing before we cut.
Taking out part of a wall or closing up a doorway is framing work first and drywall work second. We figure out whether the wall carries load, size the header if it does, and frame the opening square so trim and doors fit later. Closing an opening means new studs, new board and finishing that runs past the old edges until you cannot see where the door was. The same crew handles the patching, the corners and the clean-up.
Addison is on our regular route, with I-290 and I-355 bringing us in and Lake Street, Route 53 and Army Trail Road getting us around town. In this part of DuPage County, plenty of houses have a closed-off kitchen or a dining room behind a wall, and opening one up is a common request. Before we cut, we look in the basement or attic to see what the wall supports and what runs through it. Wires, ducts and pipes in the way get rerouted as part of the scope, priced before we start.

We check what the wall carries from below and above before any drywall comes off.
Openings in bearing walls get a header and posts sized for the load, with a permit and inspection where Addison requires one.
Old doors get framed in, covered in board and finished so the wall reads as one piece once it is painted.
Anything running through the wall is moved by our crew, so you are not chasing a second trade.
New openings get straight corners, metal or paper bead, and returns finished ready for casing or paint.
Plastic goes up at the doorways, the floors get covered, and sanding is vacuum-assisted where the work allows.
We start with a free look at the wall and a written estimate that covers the framing, any rerouting, the drywall and the permit if one is needed. If the wall turns out to hide something we could not see, the change gets written up and priced, and nothing moves until you approve it. Permits and inspections get scheduled with the village before the work that needs them. Finishing takes a few visits while the compound dries, and we close out with a walkthrough in your house.
