Flooring Installation in Lockport

Get a Lockport floor that lies flat, even where the house underneath has settled, with low spots filled and high spots taken down first.

Lockport flooring on a floor that has moved

We install luxury vinyl plank, tile, laminate and engineered hardwood, along with stair treads, risers and nosing. Every one of those products has a flatness requirement, and a subfloor that misses it makes the floor flex, gap or crack. We find the problem spots with a long straightedge and a laser, then level, patch or sand before we install. Base, shoe and transitions close out each room.

We cover Lockport, working the streets off State Street, Route 7 and Route 171, from downtown Lockport out past the I&M Canal. If your Lockport house has settled over the years, the floors may dip toward the middle of a room or run downhill to one wall. Flat and level are not the same thing: a click floor needs flat, and it can live with a gentle slope, but not a dip it has to bridge. We fill the low areas, grind or sand the high ones, and undercut door jambs so doors still swing over the new floor. Where the slope is big enough to point to a framing problem, we tell you before we cover it.

What a Lockport floor install includes

Laser and straightedge check

We map the high and low spots in each room before we price the prep.

Low spots filled

Patch or self-leveler fills the dips until a straightedge sits flat.

High spots taken down

Ridges and humps get ground or sanded so the floor has nothing to rock on.

Doors that still swing

Jambs get undercut and doors trimmed where needed so they clear the new floor.

Stairs to match

Treads, risers and nosing in the same floor so the steps match the rooms.

Base and shoe scribed

Base and shoe molding scribed to the floor so gaps do not show where the floor slopes.

How a Lockport floor job gets done

We check every room with a laser and a straightedge on the free estimate visit, so the leveling is priced from real measurements. The written estimate shows prep, floor and trim as separate lines. If we pull the old floor and find more than we measured, like a sagging joist, we show you and price it in writing before anything else happens. We hold to the install days we set, then walk the floor with you, open every door and check the transitions.

FAQ

Flooring Installation in Lockport: questions

My floor is not level. Can you still put down plank?
In most cases, yes. Plank needs a flat floor more than a level one. We fill dips and take down humps so it lies flat, and if the slope points to a framing issue we tell you before we go further.
How long does a Lockport flooring job take?
Leveling adds time because the compound has to cure before the floor goes on. Plan on one extra day for that, plus one to three days for the floor itself, depending on the size of the job.
Do I need a permit for new floors in Lockport?
Flooring alone usually does not. If the job grows into framing repair or plumbing that the city of Lockport requires a permit for, we pull it and schedule the inspection.
Do you install floors near Lockport?
Yes. We also take flooring jobs in Romeoville, Homer Glen, New Lenox and Lemont.
How do I set up an estimate?
Call or text (815) 585-1750 and tell us which rooms feel uneven. We will bring the laser.
