An attic room in your Western Springs home with sloped ceilings and dormers finished as sharp as any room downstairs. We tape the angles, the knee walls and the seams so the space looks like it belongs.
An attic room has more angles than a standard room: knee walls, sloped ceilings, a flat ceiling at the top, and dormer walls cutting in from the side. Every one of those lines is an inside corner that has to run straight. We tape the angles that are not square with flexible corner tape and the square ones with paper. Seams get three coats with sanding between, dormer corners get bead, and the whole room is primed at the end.
Western Springs is on our regular route, reached off I-294 and along Ogden Avenue, Wolf Road and 55th Street in Cook County. If you are turning your Western Springs attic into a bedroom or an office, the temperature up there matters to the finish. In summer, compound can dry too fast under the roof and crack, so we work the cooler hours or move air through the space. In winter we need heat on so it dries at all, and we plan the coats around the weather rather than fight it.

Seams on the slope taped and feathered so the plane reads flat.
The low walls and the corner where they meet the slope finished straight.
Dormer walls and their outside corners beaded and finished on every face.
The line where the slope meets the flat ceiling at the top kept straight end to end.
Air moved or heat kept on so each coat dries at the right pace.
The whole room primed so the walls and slopes take paint the same.
Our free on-site estimate breaks the room into slopes, knee walls, dormers and the flat ceiling, with the finish level for each. If the framing on a slope is out of line, which shows up as a wave in the finished ceiling, we tell you, price the shimming in writing and wait for your okay. The weather in the attic sets how long each coat takes, and we book around the days we said. At the end we walk the room with you and look along every angle.
