When a Palos Heights kitchen remodel takes out a soffit or a wall, we tape and finish the new board so the ceiling reads as one surface. Your cabinets go up against walls that are ready for them.
A kitchen remodel leaves a lot of new drywall behind: strips where a soffit came down, a ceiling channel where a wall was removed, board around a new window or a moved doorway. Each of those meets existing surfaces on several sides, so the finishing has to blend new and old instead of stopping at the seam. We tape every joint, run three coats wider each time, and sand until the patch line cannot be found. Timing matters too, because walls should be finished and primed before cabinets, backsplash and lighting go in.
Palos Heights is on our regular route, reached on Route 83, Harlem Avenue, 127th Street and Ridgeland Avenue, and we cover the southwest Cook County towns around it, from Palos Park to Orland Park. A kitchen that opens to a family room or dining area shows a ceiling patch from both rooms, under light coming from two directions, so we plan the feathering wide enough for that view. Because one crew handles the board and the remodel trades, the finishing fits into the remodel schedule. Nobody waits on a separate drywall sub to show up.

The board left where a soffit came down taped into the ceiling and wall on both sides.
The strip where a wall used to stand finished flush with the ceiling on either side.
New openings beaded and finished so trim and casing sit tight.
Coats spread wide enough that the patch disappears when you look from the next room.
Walls finished and ready for primer before cabinets and backsplash are installed.
Counters, floors and anything left in the room covered, with sanding dust collected.
If the taping is part of a larger remodel, it sits on the same written estimate as the rest of the job, with the finish level stated. If it is just the drywall, we come out, look at the new board and write that up on its own, free. Anything we find behind the old soffit or wall gets a written price and waits for your approval. We book the coats around drying time and the cabinet date, then walk the room with you before primer.
Before the cabinets are ordered, call or text (815) 585-1750 and walk us through what is coming out of the kitchen. The finish work goes on the written estimate.
