A ceiling in your Palatine home that reads as one clean surface after an old light, fan or detector comes down, with no ring, patch line or hole left behind.
Ceilings are harder to repair than walls, because the patch is overhead and light from the windows runs right across it. When a fixture, fan box, speaker or detector comes out, we cut the opening square, add backing between the joists and set new board flush with the ceiling. Tape and three coats go on, each feathered wider than a wall patch would need, then the repair is sanded, primed and painted. Wall holes, cracks and popped screws in the same rooms get fixed while we are there.
We reach Palatine up I-355 and Route 53, and work off Rand Road, Northwest Highway and Dundee Road, from downtown and the Metra station to the streets around Harper College. It is in Cook County, with Arlington Heights, Rolling Meadows and Hoffman Estates around it. If you are updating lighting or taking down a ceiling fan, what is left behind is usually a box hole and a ring of paint that does not match, and a ceiling patch shows more than any wall repair. Where the ceiling is textured, we match the texture over the patch, and where it is smooth, we feather wide and often paint the whole ceiling.

Box openings closed with new board on backing, taped and finished flush.
Can openings filled with board cut to fit and feathered into the ceiling.
Holes from old detectors and in-ceiling speakers patched and blended.
Cracked or bulging seams overhead re-taped and sanded flat.
Textured ceilings matched over the repair before primer and paint.
The repair primed and the whole ceiling painted where a spot would show.
We look at each ceiling and wall you want fixed and leave a free written estimate that lists the openings, the patches and the paint. If we find something above the ceiling, like a loose wire or a stained joist, we stop and show you, and any added work is priced in writing and approved by you first. Work starts same-day when the schedule allows, with return visits while each coat dries. We cover the floor and furniture under every patch, keep the sanding dust in the room and look up at every repair with you before we leave.
