Bathroom walls and ceilings built to handle steam, with framing ready for the tile, the niche and the grab bar. We do the framing and drywall side of Palatine bathrooms and keep the rest of the house clean.
A bathroom puts more strain on drywall than any other room, so we build it differently. Walls and ceilings outside the tile get moisture-resistant board, the shower walls get framed straight for the tile backer, and recessed niches are framed between studs at the height you want. Blocking goes in for the vanity, the mirror, towel bars and grab bars while the walls are open. Elsewhere in the house we handle partitions, closets, ceiling repairs and patches.
Palatine is on our regular route by Route 53, with Rand Road, Northwest Highway and Dundee Road taking us across town, past downtown and the Metra station and out by Harper College. Steam is hard on a bathroom ceiling that was never built for it, and peeling paint or soft board over a shower is a sign the fan is not moving air outside. When we open that ceiling, we check where the fan actually vents before we close it back up. Fixing the ceiling without fixing the airflow only brings the problem back.

Bath walls and ceilings outside the wet area get moisture-resistant drywall, taped and finished smooth.
Studs get straightened and shimmed so the tile backer and tile go on flat.
Niches are framed between studs, sized to your tile and placed where you will actually reach them.
Blocking goes in for the vanity, mirror, towel bars and grab bars before the walls close.
Soft or peeling board gets replaced, and we confirm the fan vents outside before the new ceiling goes up.
Plastic hangs at the bathroom door, floors are covered along the path, and we clean up fully when the drywall is done.
Bath work starts with a free visit and an estimate written to list the framing, the board type in each area, the blocking and how dust stays put. Anything we find once the walls are open, like a rotted plate under the old tub, gets priced in writing and waits for your approval. New wiring or plumbing gets a village permit and an inspection before we close the walls. The finish coats need drying time between visits, and the job ends with a walkthrough in the finished room.
