A Naperville wall repaired so it stays hidden, even when afternoon sun rakes across it. We feather every patch wide and paint out to the corners when a spot repair would show.
Most patches that show are not bad patches, they are narrow ones. A hump of compound six inches wide catches light at an angle, so we feather ours well past the damage over three coats and sand each one flat. Every repair starts by cutting back to sound board and either screwing in new drywall or setting a backed patch. Once the final coat is primed, we paint it to match, and if the sheen or the age of the paint would give it away, we paint the full wall.
We work in Naperville every week, on both the DuPage County and Will County sides, from I-88 down Route 59 and across Ogden Avenue and 75th Street. If your living room has tall windows or a wall that faces a patio door, light hitting it from the side will show every ridge and dip in a repair. That is the wall where we take the most care: wider feathering, a skim over the whole area if it needs one, and paint rolled corner to corner. We check it with a work light held flat to the wall before we call it done.

Doorknob strikes, punched-in spots and holes from old fixtures, backed or re-boarded, then taped and finished.
Compound spread well past the repair on each coat so no edge catches window light.
A thin coat over the wider area on a wall under strong light, sanded smooth before primer.
Old tape cut out where it failed, new tape bedded and finished flat.
Stains, cracks and patches overhead finished and painted with a flat ceiling paint.
The whole wall painted corner to corner when a spot touch-up would show.
We look at each repair in the room's real light and leave a free written estimate that says how each one gets fixed and whether the wall gets painted. Anything we find once the wall is open, such as rotted framing or an old leak, is priced in writing and done only after you approve it. Drying time between coats sets the schedule, so the estimate gives you the visits up front. At the end we put a light to every repair with you and touch up anything you point to.
