Keep a tub in your Villa Park bathroom and get new tile around it that stays dry where the tub meets the wall.
A walk-in shower is not right for every house, and a tub is still the best answer if you bathe little kids or like a soak. We remodel tub and shower combinations as carefully as any shower: the old tub and walls out, a new tub set level on a solid base, and a continuous membrane on the walls behind the tile. Our crew also handles the valve, vanity, toilet, lighting, fan and paint. You get one written estimate for all of it.
Villa Park is on our regular route, reached on Route 83, St. Charles Road, Roosevelt Road and North Avenue, with the Illinois Prairie Path running through. It is in DuPage County, between Lombard and Elmhurst. The spot where a tub surround usually fails is the joint where the tub meets the wall. We lap the waterproofing over the tub flange instead of stopping above it, leave a caulked joint at the tub instead of grouting it tight, and set the tub on a mortar bed so it does not flex and break that seal when it fills. If your bathroom has a window inside the tub surround, we tie it into the membrane so water cannot get behind the sill.

The old tub comes out and a new one goes in level, on a mortar bed so it does not flex underfoot.
Waterproofing lapped over the tub flange and up the walls, then tile, with a flexible joint at the tub.
A window inside the tub surround gets sealed into the waterproofing, with a sill that sheds water.
A new pressure balancing valve, with a tub spout and shower head you choose.
A new vanity, top and faucet, a toilet set fresh, a vanity light and GFCI outlets.
A fan ducted outside, then drywall, trim and paint to finish the room.
We visit, measure, and check the floor around the old tub for soft spots. You get a written estimate that covers each trade and fixture. If the subfloor under the tub has rotted from years of slow leaks, you see the price for the repair in writing and approve it first. Demo starts after materials arrive, and on the last day we fill the tub, run the shower and test every fixture with you.
