You see the stain on your own wood before we commit to the whole deck, so the color on the boards is the color you expected. Westmont is on our regular route for staining.
Westmont is on our regular route, and staining here covers decks, fences, pergolas, wood siding and trim, along with front doors and interior wood. We clean and brighten the wood, take off failed coatings by stripping or sanding, and replace any loose or rotted board. Then we stain clean, dry wood in even coats. Inside the house, rails, doors and trim get sanded between coats and sealed where they need it.
We work across Westmont in DuPage County, from Ogden Avenue and Route 83 to Cass Avenue, 55th Street and the blocks around the Metra station. Before you pick a stain, you want to know what it will look like on your wood. A color chip does not tell you much, because the same stain looks different on cedar than on treated pine, and different again on old wood than new. We brush a test patch on a hidden board after cleaning so you can see it before the whole job goes on.

After cleaning, we stain a hidden spot so you can see the color and how much grain shows before we do the rest.
Transparent shows the most grain, solid hides it and protects the most, and semi-transparent is in between. We help you weigh them.
Dirt, mildew and gray fibers come off and the wood is brightened so it takes stain evenly.
Peeling or patchy stain is stripped or sanded so the new color is not uneven from board to board.
New boards that replace rotted ones get the same prep, so they sit closer in color to the old wood.
Stained doors, rails and trim inside get sanded between coats and a clear topcoat where hands touch them.
We start with a free estimate at the house and talk through the look you want. The scope arrives in writing with the prep, any board replacement, the stain type and color, and the number of coats. Changes, like extra boards we find soft once cleaning starts, get priced in writing and approved by you before we do them. We work the days we booked and walk the finished wood with you.
