A front door with a deep, even stain and a clear coat that holds up to the weather. In Clarendon Hills we stain doors, decks, fences and the wood inside your house.
Staining covers more than decks for us. We do fences, pergolas, wood siding and trim, front doors and the stained wood inside: railings, interior doors and trim. Outdoor wood gets cleaned and brightened, old coatings that failed get stripped or sanded, and bad boards get replaced first. Indoor wood gets sanded between coats and a clear topcoat where it needs one, so the finish stays smooth under your hand.
Clarendon Hills is on our regular route, reached off Ogden Avenue and Route 83 or along 55th Street in DuPage County. If your front door is stained wood and faces south or west, the afternoon sun bakes the finish, and it starts to gray and crack long before the rest of the house shows wear. A door like that gets taken down to bare wood where the old finish failed, restained, and sealed with an exterior clear coat made for sun. Hardware comes off first so the stain reaches every edge, and the door goes back on once it has cured.

Old finish stripped or sanded off the door, then stained and sealed with an exterior clear coat.
Knobs, kick plates and weatherstrip come off so the stain and clear coat cover the edges, top and bottom.
Stained banisters, handrails and trim sanded, restained and topcoated so they match the rest of the room.
Weathered outdoor wood washed and brightened so the new stain soaks in evenly.
Loose or rotted deck boards and fence pickets swapped for new wood before staining.
Indoors we sand lightly between coats so the finish does not feel rough to the touch.
We start by looking at the wood with you and talking through the color and how much grain you want to see. The written estimate spells out each piece, the prep it needs, the stain and the topcoat. If we take the old finish off a door and find a split panel or soft wood, we show you and price the repair in writing before doing it. For a front door, you know ahead of time how long the opening will be covered and when the door goes back on, and we walk the work with you before we call it done.
Text a photo of the door, deck or railing to (815) 585-1750. We will come look, then send the prep and price in writing.
