Your Wheaton floors replaced the right way for what is underneath, whether that means going over sound tile or taking the old floor down to the subfloor.
Our crew installs luxury vinyl plank and tile, laminate, engineered hardwood, and tile in baths, entries and laundry rooms. The first decision on most jobs is whether the old floor stays or goes. Luxury vinyl can be laid over flat, sound tile or sheet vinyl, which saves tear-out, but it never goes over carpet or an uneven floor. Whatever ends up under the new floor gets checked against the product's flatness spec and leveled, patched or sanded until it passes, and base, shoe and transitions finish the work.
Wheaton is on our regular route, reached by Roosevelt Road and Naperville Road, with Main Street and the Metra station at the center of town and Wheaton College and the Illinois Prairie Path close by. It is the DuPage County seat, next to Glen Ellyn, Carol Stream and Warrenville. When a new floor goes over an old one, the added height shows up at the doors: interior doors may need trimming, and the casings and jambs get undercut so the plank slides under them instead of being caulked around them. We check every door during the estimate so that work is in the price.

We check the existing floor for flatness and bond, then tell you plainly whether new plank can go over it.
Casings and jambs are cut to the new floor height so the floor slides under them for a clean edge.
Interior doors that drag on the new height get trimmed and rehung.
Patching compound in the low spots and sanding on the high seams until the surface meets spec.
Each installed with the underlayment and expansion gap its maker specifies.
Trim at every wall and transition strips where the new floor meets a different surface.
At a free estimate we look at the current floor, test the doors and tell you whether we can go over what is there or need to take it out. That answer goes into a written scope along with the product, the prep and the trim, and you approve it before we order. If the old floor comes up and the subfloor needs repair, you see it and approve a written price first. We hold to the install days we gave you and walk every room and every door with you when we finish.
Whether the old floor stays or goes, you will know at the estimate. Call or text (815) 585-1750.
