Our crew installs luxury vinyl plank and tile, laminate, engineered hardwood, and tile for baths, entries and laundry rooms. Each product has a flatness spec printed by its maker, and a subfloor straight out of tear-out rarely meets it, so we check it and level, patch or sand before the first plank goes down. We move the furniture and appliances, reconnect what we unhooked, and finish the job with base, shoe and transitions. You get the whole scope in writing before any work starts.
Carol Stream is on our regular route, and we come in on North Avenue and Gary Avenue, with Army Trail Road and Schmale Road covering the rest of the village. It is a DuPage County village where townhomes and single-family houses sit side by side, and the Great Western Trail cuts across it. If you want one floor running through the kitchen, hall and living room with no break at the doorways, the layout matters more than the plank. Long runs need the expansion room the maker calls for, so we plan where any break goes and put it under a door instead of in the middle of a room.
We snap lines off the longest wall so the planks run straight through every room and the end joints never line up.
A long straightedge finds the dips and humps, and we fill or grind them until the subfloor meets the product's spec.
Floating floors move with the seasons, so we leave the gap the maker requires and set any needed break at a doorway.
Entries, laundry rooms and baths can get tile on a proper backer, set in thinset and grouted.
We install new or reinstalled base, run shoe over the gap, and set a transition wherever the new floor meets carpet or tile.
We slide out the range and refrigerator, pull the dishwasher if the plank runs under it, and hook everything back up.
The estimate is free and on site, and we measure every room the floor will touch. Your written scope names the product, the prep and the tear-out room by room, so you know what is in the job. If the old floor comes up and the subfloor needs more than we planned, you see it, get a written price for it, and approve it before we touch it. We hold to the install days we gave you and finish with a walkthrough of every room.
