Exterior Painting in Naperville

We repaint Naperville houses with the scraping and priming done right, so the new coat bonds to sound paint and bare wood instead of loose layers. Siding, trim, porches and doors go on one written estimate.

Exterior house painting in Naperville

A good exterior paint job starts with getting the failing paint off the house. We wash every wall, scrape until we hit paint that is stuck tight, then sand the ridges so the old edges do not show through the new coat. Bare wood gets primer, open joints get new caulk, and any board that has gone soft is replaced. Only then do the finish coats go on, by brush and roller, with two-story walls reached from ladders set for the height.

We cover Naperville on both the DuPage County and Will County sides, coming in off I-88, Route 59, Ogden Avenue and 75th Street. If your house has wood clapboard with years of paint built up, the scraping and sanding take longer than the painting, and the estimate says so up front. A house under big trees, near the DuPage River or anywhere shade lingers tends to grow mildew on the north side, and that has to be killed and washed off before primer goes on. We plan each side of the house on its own terms instead of treating all four walls the same.

Exterior Painting by ONIT Solutions

Included in a Naperville exterior repaint

Scrape to sound paint

Loose and lifting paint comes off until the scraper stops catching, and the edges are sanded so they disappear under the new coat.

Mildew killed, not rinsed

Shaded walls get a wash that kills the growth instead of just moving it around, so it does not come back up through the paint.

Clapboard and fiber cement

Wood lap siding, fiber cement and shingle siding are painted by brush and roller, with the bottom edge of each board coated.

Porches, columns and railings

Porch ceilings, columns, rails and spindles are prepped and painted along with the body of the house.

Shutters and doors

Shutters are cleaned and painted, and front and side doors get a finish made for hands and weather.

Carpentry before paint

Rotted sills, trim and siding boards are replaced and primed, so the new paint sits on new wood instead of rot.

From estimate to final walkthrough

The estimate is free and written on site, with every surface listed along with its prep, the product and the number of coats. You approve that scope before we set a start date. Anything we uncover once scraping starts, like a rotted sill hiding under old paint, gets priced in writing and waits for your OK. We paint on dry days above 50 degrees, move the calendar around the weather instead of rushing the work, and finish with a walkthrough of every side.

  • Every surface listed on the estimate
  • Scraped down to sound paint
  • Mildew treated before primer
  • Bare wood primed
  • Extra work approved in writing first
  • Walkthrough on every side of the house
FAQ

Exterior Painting in Naperville: questions

Will you scrape off all the old paint?
We remove everything that is loose or lifting and sand the edges smooth. Paint that is still bonded tight stays, because stripping sound paint to bare wood across a whole house is rarely worth the cost. If a wall has failed everywhere, we will show you and price it that way.
Do you need a permit to paint in Naperville?
Painting on its own generally does not need a permit. If the work includes rebuilding a porch or replacing siding over a large area, we check with the City of Naperville first and pull the permit where one is required.
When is painting season?
Spring through fall, on dry days with temperatures above 50 degrees. Fall work gets planned around the cold nights, so ask for your estimate early if you want the house done before winter.
Do you work in towns around Naperville?
Yes. We also paint houses in Lisle, Warrenville, Wheaton and Aurora.
Can I send photos first?
Text photos of the peeling or rotted spots to (815) 585-1750 and we will tell you what we see before we come out for the free estimate.
