Bathroom and kitchen walls that take the steam and still paint clean. We tape and finish new drywall in Wood Dale remodels with the right board and compound on each wall.
Kitchens and bathrooms ask more of a drywall finish than a bedroom does. Moisture-resistant board goes on the bathroom walls outside the shower, and we tape it like any other wall, with paper tape and a setting compound for the first coat because it stands up better to humidity. Inside the shower and behind tile, joint compound does not belong at all; that area is cement board with its own tape and thinset, handled as part of the tile work. The rest of the room gets three coats, feathered and sanded, so the wall around the vanity and mirror stays flat under bright bath lights.
Wood Dale is on our regular route by Route 83, Irving Park Road and Thorndale Avenue, with Wood Dale Road running through the middle of town. If your Wood Dale kitchen is getting new walls or an old soffit taken out, the finishing has to be done and dry before cabinets go up. We sequence the taping so no cabinet goes on a wall with wet seams. We also tape the walls that will end up behind cabinets, because an untaped seam there can still crack and show at the edge of a box.

Bathroom walls outside the wet zone are taped and coated like any wall, with setting compound for the first coat.
Drywall stops where cement board starts, and we finish the joint between them so tile and paint meet neatly.
New walls are taped, coated and dry before cabinets go up, including the areas the cabinets will cover.
Where an old soffit comes out, the ceiling and wall are boarded, taped and feathered into what is already there.
Bed, fill and finish coats on every seam and fastener, sanded between coats.
Floors covered and doorways sealed, with vacuum sanding wherever it fits.
We write the estimate after seeing the room, listing which walls get moisture-resistant board, where the tile stops and how many finishing visits to expect. If opening a wall shows damage from an old leak, we stop, show you and price the repair in writing before going further. The taping is booked so drying time is part of the plan and the next step never lands on wet compound. When we finish, we go over the walls with you before anything else is installed.
