New drywall in your Wheaton home finished with the right tape and the right compound in each spot, so seams stay tight and corners do not crack. We explain every choice in plain words.
Two choices decide whether a seam holds up: the tape and the compound. Paper tape is stronger in inside corners and on most flat joints, and it folds to a crisp line. Mesh tape has its place, but only bedded in a setting-type compound, which hardens by chemical reaction instead of drying, because mesh in a premixed compound is where hairline cracks start. We match the compound to the coat, with a harder compound where strength matters and a lighter, smoother one for the finish coats that get sanded.
Wheaton is on our regular route along Roosevelt Road, Naperville Road and Main Street, and we work across this part of DuPage County from Glen Ellyn to Warrenville. Whether the new board is in a basement, an addition or a remodeled room near downtown or out by the Illinois Prairie Path, the same rules apply, and the estimate tells you which tape and compound go where. If a room sees bigger swings in temperature, like a space over a garage, the tape coat matters more, and we use the stronger option there. You should not have to take our word for it, so we explain each choice before we start.

Inside corners and most flat seams get paper tape, creased and bedded for a strong, straight line.
Where mesh makes sense, it goes on with a hardening compound so it does not crack later.
Harder compound where strength matters, a lighter compound for the coats that get sanded.
Outside corners beaded straight and plumb, then coated.
Each coat sanded once it is hard, with dust collection where it fits.
A coat of drywall primer before paint, and any spot it reveals gets one more pass.
A free on-site visit gets you a written estimate listing the rooms, the finish level and the materials for each step. Any change, including extra work we find once we are in the room, is priced in writing and done only after you approve it. Setting compound shortens the first coat, but the finish coats still need time to dry, so we set the visit dates ahead and book around the days we said. At the end, we walk every room with you and check the walls with a light.
