Plan the paint before the drywall is finished, and your Elmhurst walls come out even in any sheen or color. We finish the board to the paint you picked.
The paint you choose changes how much finishing a wall needs. Flat and matte paints hide minor flaws, while eggshell, satin and semi-gloss reflect light and show every ridge and every change in texture between the paper and the compound. Dark colors do the same. We ask what paint is going on before we start, then tape, bead and coat the new board to a level 4 finish for most walls and a level 5 skim where the sheen or color calls for it.
Elmhurst is on our regular route, reached on I-290, I-294, York Road and North Avenue, and we cover the streets out from downtown Elmhurst and Elmhurst University as well as the DuPage County towns around them. If your Elmhurst project is an addition, a finished basement or a new wall in an older house, the finishing plan starts from the same question about paint. Flashing is the problem we are working to prevent: dull or shiny patches where compound and paper took the paint differently. A proper primer coat and the right finish level keep the wall one even color.

The sheen and color you plan to use set the finish level before the first coat.
Every joint taped, outside corners beaded and three coats feathered and sanded.
A level 5 skim over the whole wall where satin, semi-gloss or a dark color is going on.
Primer over the finished board so paper and compound take paint the same way.
Primer shows any last flaw, and we touch those spots up before the color goes on.
Walls left sanded, primed and ready, whether we paint or someone else does.
We visit, look at the board and talk through the paint plan, then leave a free written estimate with the finish level for each wall. If you switch to a shinier paint partway through, the extra skim is priced in writing and done only after you approve it. Coats dry between visits, so we set the schedule ahead and book around the days we said. You walk the rooms with us after primer, when flaws show up most clearly.
