When wallpaper comes off and takes the drywall's face paper with it, we repair the wall in your Glen Ellyn home so it is smooth and ready for paint.
Drywall repair is careful, layered work: cut out what is damaged, fit a patch, tape it, then build three coats of compound that are each wider than the last. We sand between coats with the room closed off, prime the finished patch and paint it to match. Torn paper, gouges and old anchor holes get handled in the same pass. You approve a written estimate before anything starts.
We cover Glen Ellyn by Roosevelt Road, Route 53 and Main Street, from the Metra station and Lake Ellyn down toward College of DuPage. It is a DuPage County village between Wheaton and Lombard, with Glendale Heights to the north. If you are stripping wallpaper, the face paper on the drywall underneath can tear and fuzz. Painting straight over that leaves bubbles and a rough surface, so we seal the torn paper with a sealing primer, then skim the wall smooth before paint.

Fuzzy or torn paper left by wallpaper removal gets a sealing primer so it will not bubble under compound.
We skim the wall in thin coats and sand it flat so the paint goes on a smooth surface.
Leftover paste gets washed off first, since paint and compound will not hold over it.
Holes from shelves, mirrors and TV brackets are filled, taped where needed and coated flush.
Damaged spots get cut to clean edges, patched and finished in three coats.
Each repaired wall is primed and painted, corner to corner where a spot repair would show.
At a free visit, we look at the walls with the wallpaper off or partly off and tell you whether they need spot repairs or a full skim. That answer goes into a written estimate, and anything that changes once we start is priced in writing for your okay. We plan the visits around drying time and keep plastic at the door and covers on the floor. The last visit ends with a walkthrough of every wall.
