Get a cabinet finish in Hanover Park that stays put, because we check what your doors are made of before we pick the primer. If they will not take paint, we tell you plainly.
Cabinet refinishing is painting the cabinets already in your kitchen, bath or built-ins so you keep the boxes instead of replacing them. We take the doors and drawer fronts off, label each one and bag the hardware. Cleaning and degreasing come next, followed by a scuff-sand, filling and a bonding primer. The finish coat is a cabinet-grade enamel, sprayed for an even surface, and the frames get painted in place with the kitchen masked.
Hanover Park is on our regular route, and Irving Park Road, Barrington Road and Lake Street bring us in, along with the streets around the Metra station. Before we price your job, we figure out what the doors are: solid wood, painted wood, laminate, or a vinyl wrap over fiberboard. Wood and most factory finishes take paint well with the right sanding and bonding primer. If your doors have a vinyl wrap that is peeling at the edges, paint will not hold on it, and we tell you that instead of selling you a refinish that fails.

We identify wood, laminate or vinyl wrap before choosing the prep and primer.
Doors and drawer fronts come off with labels, and hardware goes in marked bags.
The cooking film comes off and the old sheen gets dulled so primer can bond.
Chips along door edges and dents in the frames get filled and sanded flat.
A primer made for hard, slick surfaces goes under a sprayed cabinet-grade enamel.
Face frames and end panels get painted where they stand, with floors and counters covered.
We see the cabinets, check what they are made of and give you a written estimate with the prep, primer and coats listed. If we find a door that cannot take paint or a box that needs work, we tell you, price the fix in writing and do it only with your approval. The estimate also says how long the kitchen will be partly out of use, and we book around the days we said. At the end, we walk the kitchen with you and go over every door.
