New drywall in your Downers Grove home that sits flat against the plaster beside it, with no lip at the doorway and no line in the paint. We finish the board to match the walls that are already there.
Taping and finishing is careful, repeated work: tape bedded in compound, corner bead set straight, then a fill coat and a finish coat feathered past the first. Each layer gets sanded, and we check the wall with a light before moving on. Paper tape goes on the flat seams and inside corners, and setting compound goes where we need strength or a deep fill. A coat of primer at the end evens out how the paper and the compound take paint.
Downers Grove is on our regular route, off I-88 and I-355 and along Ogden Avenue, Butterfield Road and Main Street in DuPage County. Where an older Downers Grove house still has plaster and one room gets opened to the studs, the new board and the old plaster rarely end up the same thickness. We shim or layer the board so the two surfaces line up, then tape across the joint and feather it into the plaster so the door trim sits flat. Skipping that step leaves a lip you can feel with your hand and see in the paint.

New board brought flush with old plaster and the joint taped and feathered into it.
Rooms opened to the studs taped, beaded and finished to paint.
Hard-setting compound on tie-ins and deep fills, where ready-mix would shrink.
Door and window openings finished flat so the casing sits tight to the wall.
Paper on the flat seams and inside corners, bead on every outside corner.
Each coat sanded between passes and the whole surface primed before paint.
The free estimate is in writing and lists each room, where new board meets old plaster, and the finish we plan for it. Opening plaster walls can turn up things nobody could see, like old wiring or cracked lath in the next room, and those get priced in writing for your approval before we touch them. We plan visits around compound drying time and keep to the days we gave you. At the end we walk the rooms together with a light held along the joints.
