Get your front porch solid again, with rotted columns, steps and ceiling boards replaced and the details matched to the house. Hinsdale is on our regular route.
This service covers both ends of the house: decks out back and porches out front. On a porch, we replace rotted columns and column bases, rebuild steps, repair or replace railings, and fix porch floors and ceilings that have taken on water. On a deck, we build new in treated lumber or composite, or repair and resurface a frame that checks out sound. Either way, where the structure meets the house, we flash it and fasten it with bolts, and you get the full scope in writing first.
We cover Hinsdale off I-294, Ogden Avenue, York Road and County Line Road, from downtown and the Metra station out through the neighborhoods. If your house has a front porch with turned columns, a beadboard ceiling or a particular railing profile, the repair should look like it was always there. We match the profiles we can, and when a part cannot be matched from standard stock, we say so in the estimate. Water damage on a porch usually starts at the column bases and the step stringers, so those are the first places we check.

We support the porch roof, replace rotted column bases or whole columns, and set them so end grain stays out of standing water.
Water-stained or sagging ceiling boards come down, we find where the water came in, and new boards go up matched to the old.
Front steps get new stringers and treads with even rises and a handrail that meets code.
We match the railing profile where we can and build to current code for height and spacing.
Rotted floor boards and the framing under them get replaced, pitched slightly so water runs off.
New decks in treated or composite, plus repair and resurfacing on a frame that checks out sound.
The first visit is free, and we check the column bases, the floor framing, the ceiling and the steps for water damage. You get a written scope that says what gets repaired, what gets replaced and how we will match the existing details, with the price. Structural porch work and new decks need a permit, which we pull, and we book the work days once it is approved. If we open the ceiling or floor and find more rot, you see it and approve the price in writing before we fix it, and we walk the finished porch with you.
