A finished basement in Channahon where the walls look as good as the rooms upstairs. We tape and finish the new board and give each coat the drying time it needs, so the seams stay hidden after paint.
Taping and finishing is the work between hung drywall and a painted wall. Our crew embeds tape over every seam, sets bead on the outside corners, and builds the joints up with three coats of compound sanded in between. Paper tape goes where strength matters most, and mesh goes with setting compound where it belongs, such as patches and tight spots. Then the board gets primed, because bare compound and bare paper soak up paint at different rates.
We work in Channahon every week, coming in off I-55 and I-80 and along Route 6 in Will County. Basements are where a lot of new board goes up, and basement air holds moisture through the summer, which slows how fast compound dries. If your Channahon basement runs damp, we set up a dehumidifier while we work instead of rushing the next coat over soft compound. Mud that gets covered before it is dry shrinks and cracks later, and that shows up as lines in the paint months after the job is done.

Long wall runs and the boxed soffits around ducts and beams taped and finished as one job.
Paper tape folded into every inside corner and coated so the corner line stays sharp.
Mesh tape used with setting compound on patches and tight spots, never with ready-mix where it can crack.
The air kept dry with a dehumidifier when needed so each coat cures before the next.
A tape coat, a fill coat and a finish coat, each one wider and each one sanded.
A drywall primer over the whole surface so the paint dries one even color.
Our first visit is a free look at the board and a written estimate that lists the rooms, the finish level and the days we expect to be there. Anything that has to be fixed before taping, like a sheet that is not fully screwed off or a gap too wide to fill, gets priced in writing and waits for your approval. We plan the return visits around drying time and tell you when the crew is coming each day. The last visit is a walkthrough with a light held to the wall so you see what we see.
